Since the newest version of iOS do have iCloud, all the things we need to do is just transfer your contacts to iCloud. Then you won’t be data lost or lost contact if your iPhone / iPad missing.

This is a How-to for some people that do not sync their contacts to Google, and storing their contacts in Phone Only.

Export Contacts from Android Device

• Tap the Contacts icon on your Android Device.
• Tap the Menu button of your Android Device
• The bottom will come out “Search, New Contact, Account, Import/Export …”
• Choose the Import/Export
• Export to SDcard.
• Confirm Export.
• The vCard ( 0001.vcf ) file will store to your SDcard.

Transfer Contacts to PC

Plugin your USB cable or plug your SDcard to your PC, copy the 0001.vcf file to your Desktop or My Documents.

Import to iCloud

• You can access your iCloud from any browser that have internet connection. This make everything easier. If you do not have iCloud account, you can register one from there.
• Login to your iCloud account, with your username and password.
• Click on the big Contacts icon
• The bottom there have a small gear icon.
• Click it and access to Import vCard.

So, choose the 0001.vcf that you export just now, into your iCloud.

Reason to use this way

• I’m using this way, because no need to use Microsoft Outlook or Windows Contact, since the iCloud can sync direct from Outlook only in PC.
• Some people do not sync their contact to Google Contacts.
• Export to vcf can make another backup for your contacts too.

If your Android device or other device synced with your Google Contacts, then you can transfer using this way.

• Login to your Gmail account,
• Choose Contacts
• Click the Export from the Drop down menu ( More )
• Export Contacts Choosing The group ( My Contacts ).

If you choose All Contacts, this maybe make your contacts messy. Because the previous Gmail keep all those send / received email to the contacts, and collected a lot of spam email address too.

Export in vCard Format, this will be version 3.0 vCard.

I know iOS do not support version lower than that like exporting from old Symbian.

Save the Contacts.vcf to your Documents or Desktop, and you will use it to import later.

Import to iCloud

Login to your iCloud account, with your username and password.

After you install the Eclipse you need to install ADT Plugin then you can start a Project like to tutorial in Hello, World that from Android Development. You follow the document in ADT Plugin for Eclipse, they will give you the instruction below.

Downloading the ADT Plugin

Use the Update Manager feature of your Eclipse installation to install the latest revision of ADT on your development computer.<>

Assuming that you have a compatible version of the Eclipse IDE installed, as described in Preparing for Installation, above, follow these steps to download the ADT plugin and install it in your Eclipse environment.

1. Start Eclipse, then select Help > Install New Software….
2. Click Add, in the top-right corner.
3. In the Add Repository dialog that appears, enter “ADT Plugin” for the Name and the following URL for the Location:

   https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/

4. Click OKNote: If you have trouble acquiring the plugin, try using “http” in the Location URL, instead of “https” (https is preferred for security reasons).
5. In the Available Software dialog, select the checkbox next to Developer Tools and click Next.
6. In the next window, you’ll see a list of the tools to be downloaded. Click Next.
7. Read and accept the license agreements, then click Finish.Note: If you get a security warning saying that the authenticity or validity of the software can’t be established, click OK.
8. When the installation completes, restart Eclipse.

Wait for long long time in Calculating requirements and dependencies

But you keep waiting … So, you may have your problem in the firewall, and is it blocking the eclipse.exe access to internet connection ? If not then you may need to install the Java SDK.

Download the Java from here.

During this time I use the Java Platform (JDK) 7u1 for Windows x64 jdk-7u1-windows-x64.exe  (Java SE Development Kit 7 Downloads )

After that open the Eclipse again,
Click on the menubar
Windows… Preferences, select Install / Update and then click on the
link for Automatic Updates,
change the settings to:

• Look for updates each time the platform is started
• Search for updates and notify me when they are available
• Notify me once about updates

Click on apply and then Ok.
Restart Eclipse, let the auto-update run.

So try the step from the Android Document : Downloading the ADT Plugin then you are able to download.

Note: You may need to wait longer than 10 minutes to finish download the ADT Plugin. Just be patient…

• Take your your SDcard
• Copy all files backup to your PC
