Petai, it does have a lot of names. Parkia speciosa (petai, bitter bean, sataw, twisted cluster bean, yongchaa, yongchaak, zawngtah or stink bean). You can find more information in here Parkia speciosa from wiki. In Cantonese called as cao-dao ( 臭豆 ), in Thai, called as Sa-tor (สะตอ), in Mandarin is called mei-li-qiu-hua-dou (美麗球花豆).

This is a kind of bean famous in Asian countries. One of the special things of this bean, it is smelly. After you eat, your mouth will be smelly and the smell of your fart is terrible. Inside the wikipedia links do explaine why it smell.

The photos below are those foods I cook oftenly. Before cook the Petai, we should open half of it and take off the core. But I found funny that it always have worm inside the core, but you can’t found any hole around the Petai. That’s why before cook, you have to do that. If not the worm will be into your stomach.

Please enjoy the video and share to your friends.
